Ich hab VirtualBox gemerged, habe aber nun das problem das ich keine Kerneloption finde um es zu starten wer hat eine Idee?

Bei Starten bekomme ich immer diese meldung:

VirtualBox kernel driver not installed. The vboxdrv kernel module was either not loaded or /dev/vboxdrv was not created for some reason. Re-setup the kernel module by executing '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup' as root.
VBox status code: -1908 (VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED).

nö die datei gibt es ja gar nicht, obwohl ich alles emerded hab

Mhh, koennte sein dass der (oder Deine config) 2.6.23.9 iregndein Symbol nicht exportiert hat. Der 2.6.25er funktioniert bei mir tadellos mit virtualbox-modules-1.5.6.

Oder die ganze Sache nochmal neu emergen, hilft in vielen Faellen.
Ach ja warum zeigste nicht (eigentlich nur die letzten Zeilen noetig) dmesg?

app-emulation/virtualbox-modules ist gemerged?

"vboxdrv" ist in /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 drin?Nicht zwingend,aber bequem.

Nach jedem Update des Kernel muss app-emulation/virtualbox-modules reemerged werden.

Ich würd's ja gerne testen, aber ich kom nicht mehr ins system.

Die heufigste Ursache, warum etwas nicht funktioniert ist, das es eine neuere Version davon gibt. Dann streikt men system automatisch (warum weis ich selber nicht) Dann update ich "normaler" weise ienfach neu. Auser jetzt...

dann schaff doch mal platz auf deiner platte ...

und wie es aussieht hast du gerade auf xorg 1.4 geupdatet, dann musst du alle (oder fast alle) deiner x11-drivers/xf86-* re-emergen, da der 1.4er ne andere abi nutzt.


und ehrlich gesagt würde ich den 1.4er noch nicht nutzen.

so hab jetzt endlich mal meine partition vergößert

und "xf86-input-mouse" und "xf86-input-keyboard" geupdated. jetzt geht's wieder.

Gut weiter mit dem eigentlichen Problem. Wie bekomme ich das Modul in den Kernel?

Du benutzt aber nicht den 2.6.25er Kernel oder?

Der 2.6.25er funktioniert bei mir tadellos mit virtualbox-modules-1.5.6.

Ich bin der lebende Beweis.

page_attr wird sogar nicht mehr mit "Enable unused/obsolete exported symbols" (unter Kernelhacking) exportiert (das ist z.B. auch das Problem mit den ungepatchen Nvidia-Treiber 169.12).

.. bzw. ich nutze ein ~x86 (Desktop-Profil), aber unmasken kannste die Packete ja einzelnt und X-zeuchs etc. funktioniert auch tadellos bzw. ohne jegliche Pakete zu masken.

Ich bräuchte eigendlich nur ne ".config" in der die die option mit drin steht. Das hat schon mal bei was anderem funktioniert.

Sollte es wohl eher heissen

Ich habe meine daten des Systems berreits geposted und nichts spricht (mit meinen Systemeigenschaften) gegen das Funktionieren von VirtualBox unter 2.6.25 jetzt sogar 2.6.25.1.

Enable unused/obsolete exported symbols muss nicht aktiviert werden.
