Drucker wird nicht erkannt?!?!

Hallo,

problem: Drucker (HP Deskjet 400) über paralleles kabel an SuSE Linux 9.3 Kernle 2.6.11, kde 3.4 angeschlossen.
Cups läuft und horcht. Parallelport ist Standard Bidirektional, kann ich aber auch auf ecp wechseln.

soweit!

wenn ich also nun versuche mit yast diesen drucker zu installieren, wird er nicht erkannt...

weiß jemand warum

Du öffnest einfach ein Terminal (unter KDE z.B. 'Konsole') und tippst dmesg ein. Damit spuckst Du Meldungen des Kernels aus. Sollte bestimmte Hardware nicht erkannt werden, ist dies immer ein guter Schritt, dass Problem ausfindig zu machen.

Kannst alternativ auch mal probieren, CUPS mit dem dazugehörigen Webfrontend zu konfigurieren (wenn Dein SuSE das erlaubt). Öffne einen beliebigen Browser und tippe '127.0.0.1:631' ein.

so hab mal eben dmesg gecheckt... hatte auch eben noch kleine netzwerkprobleme, deshalb hats solange gedauert..

ich hab bei der ausgabe von dmesg nichts über den parallelen port /dev/lpt oder lp oder ähnliches gefunden. lediglich die seriellen ports weredn augeführt... so das soll also heißen ???

Was sagt den 'lspci'?! Musst'e wahrscheinlich als root ausführen (also 'su -c lspci').

lspci spuckt alles aus, ausser infos bezüglich des parallel ports oder gegebenenfalls angeschlossene geräte, wie den drucker... also bin root.. es im übrigen alles angeschlossen und der drucker funktioniert auch.. unter xp geht das klar... wollte ich nur mal anmerken... habs schon oft erlebt, dass leute probleme haben, die keine ware mir war so, als könnte man z.b. mit echo /dev/lpt irgendwie den status überprüfen... ne idee??

Was passiert wenn Du 'echo "ein blöder test" > /dev/lpt' eintippst (kann auch sein, dass Du ein anderes Device angeben musst)?! Der Drucker sollte zumindest mal blinken oder irgendwelche Töne von sich geben...

Hast Du das CUPS-Webfrontend denn mal ausprobiert?!

also, hab versucht mit echo -en "\rHallo\r\f" >/dev/lp0 den drucker zu zwingen mal was zu tun aber wie du schon sagtest, der blinkt nicht einmal!!!

´die sache mit cups hab ich klarer weise schon ausprobiert...
aber wie gesagt, selbst bei der automatischen erkennung passiert nichts...

wenn ich denn versuche einfach einen drucker zu konfigurieren, spuckt
yast mir die antwort aus, dass kein parallelport installiert und/oder konfiguriert ist....mhmh... alles sehr seltsam...

hab im übrigen meine para schnittstelle von stand.-bidirektional auf ecp umgestellt.... ohne wirkung oder ähnliches...##bin echt ratlos!!!!, weil geht alles unter xp... ;´ mhmh...

Öhm... wir meinen beide das Webfrontend? Ich habe da nämlich nicht wirklich eine autmoatische Erkennung...

Kannst mal probeweise Knoppix reinschmeissen und schauen, ob da der Drucker erkannt wird. Sollte dies der Fall sein, einfach mal die geladenen Module vergleichen etc.
