hallo, hab ein problem mit dem x-server!

hab ubuntu installiert und jetzt kommt eine fehler meldung

(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

mein notebook(64bit)
ist von dell
2ghz duo core
3 gb ram
eventuell kann es sein das ich eine spizielle version von ubuntu brauch wegen 64 bit???

Wie sieht die xorg.conf derzeit aus?

bei 3gb ram kann man durchaus 64-Bit verwenden, wobei du da auf einige Probleme sossen wirst, angefangen mit dem FlashPlugin für einen 64-Bit Firefox (was es nicht gibt)
aber erst mal dein Prob beheben, poste mal bitte die sachen good schon angefordert hat

die xorg.conf findest du in /etc/X11

was hat 3GB Ram damit zu tun, ob man ein 64Bit System verwenden ann oder nicht???

Es ist so, dass du mit 32 Bit nicht mehr Speicher als 4GB adressieren kannst. Und bedingt durch reservierte Bereiche sind es dann oft nur noch 3GB. Also ist für Speicher über 4GB zu einem 64 Bit System zu raten.

Dafür gibt es nspluginwrapper ... und wirkliche Probleme hab ich im letzten halben Jahr nicht feststellen können.

hab übrigens ubuntu 7.4 installiert sollte ich mir eine neue version ziehn??

Neuere Version brauchste dir nicht ziehen, das kannst du später updaten.

Welchen Grafikchip du hast solltest du mit dem Befehl "lspci" herrausfinden können.
Also poste die Ausgabe davon auchnochmal hier.

aber nach einer Treiberinstallation bietet normal jeder installer das er diese editiert. Aber Achtung ! Es wird einiges umgeänder u.A engl. Tastatur. Aber es wird ein backup gemacht

wie gesagt du kannst den treiber auch von hand eintragen

wenn ich lspci eingebe dann kommt folgendes:

das sind die beiden einträge für den graphic controller!

hmm normal sind die intel chips alle in den repos drin ... komisch ... such einfach im netz nach treibern und installier diese
