Hallo liebe Leuts,

nicht erst seit kurzer zeit friert meine Suse 10.2 häufig ein. Dachte anfangs, das regelt sich mit Updates automatisch wieder, aber Pustekuchen.

Es kann sein, dass ich einen ganzen Tag durcharbeiten kann und es passiert nichts. Aber wenn ich mal den PC in Ruhe lasse, und nach einiger Zeit (1 Std. oder mehr) wiederkomme, dann ist es öfters so, dass das System nicht mehr zugänglich ist. Bild ist noch da, Maus kann ich noch bewegen, aber das ist alles, keine Konsole oder so, nix. Reset ist letzte Rettung, ziemlich nervig das Ganze.

- zur Info: In der Zeit wo ich nicht am Rechner sitze und das System einfriert, besteht eine Internet-DSL-Connection, Kopete ist an, öfter auch mal KTorrent. Aber auch nicht immer.

- Hardware wie in Signatur.

- Habe neuesten NVidia Treiber drauf.

Vielen Dank für einen Tip, hab sehr viel gegooglet(d) aber hab da nichts spezifisches zu meiner Hardware gefunden.

Hast Du versucht, mittels Alt + Strg + F1 in den Textmodus zu gelangen? Probiere dass doch mal und schau dann mittels 'top' ob und welche Prozesse da am durchdrehen sind.

keine chance, bin gerade für ne halbe Stunde vom PC weggegangen, und siehe da, nix geht mehr, auch kein Strg+Alt+F1... :(

ne andere Idee?

Kann man in irgendwelchen Protokollen sowas einsehen? Bin mit Linux noch nicht so weit, dass ich weiss wo ich in einem solchen Falle was finde...

Du könntest in dmesg oder /var/log/messages mal schauen. Auch ein Memtest schadet nichts.

Hmmmm... zum Schluss hat zumindest der ZMD zu rödeln angefangen... nutzt Du den auch aktiv? Eigentlich ist der durchaus verzichtbar, um nicht zu sagen: ein Ärgernis, denn dass dieser die cpu belastet, ist durchaus typisch für ihn - ob er allerding alleine bzw. überhaupt mit Deinen freezes zu tun hat, kann ich nicht beurteilen.

Deaktiviere ihn zunächst mal (als root):

Wenn dann über längere Zeit keine freezes mehr auftauchen sollten, deinstalliere ihn:

Hallo zusammen,

also ich habe nachdem ich zmd deinstalliert habe den rechner mal über nacht an gelassen...

Am nächsten Morgen ==> Freeze :(

Maus lässt sich bewegen, wenn ich z.B. über KDE Startlogo gehe, geht der Pfeil zur Hand über, aber Null Reaktion.

NVidia? Was könnte da denn das Probem sein?

Was mich irritiert ist, dass es kaum einfriert wenn ich aktiv am arbeiten bin. Erst wenn ich das System in Ruhe lasse, dann "schläft" es ein. Nutze auch Beryl ohne Probleme, alles Tip Top. Screensaver und Stromsparmodi habe ich alle rausgenommen (schalte Monitor immer ab).

Jetzt habe ich anstelle des "Update-Zen-Dings" in der Taskbar ein "opensuseupdate-gelbes-Dreieck-mit-Ausrufezeichen" :) Übernimmt opensuseupdate jetzt die Arbeit von zmd? Reicht das so?

ok ändere X von nvidia zu vesa und checke gegen freeze

also bei mir sieht das so aus:

wenn ich das umschreibe, ist dann sichergestellt, dass beim nächsten Neustart alles wie gehabt auf meine Grafische Oberfläche komme und nicht vorher in der Konsole lande? Das würde nämlich ein Trauma in mir hervorrufen :) weil momentan eigentlich alles super läuft...

Wenn das ohne weiteres geht, probier ich das nachher aus.

das wage ich zu bezweifeln (obs überhaupt läuft) da vesa keine 3d beschleuniegung bietet

mache eine sicherheitskopie von xorg.conf und wenn du zurücksicherst sollte alles so sein wie vorher die "vesa" config sollte dann so aussehen

jo .. es geht ja dabei nur darum den nvidia treiber als fehlerquelle aus zu schliessen!
 
ich werde es gleich widerwillig mit dem vesatreiber ausprobieren... :)

kann das Ganze auch was mit der Internet-/Netzwerkverbindung zu tun haben? mir ist gerade eben wieder das System eingefroren als ich auf einen Download-Link geklickt habe... ich habe ja auch das Internet eigentlich immer an wenn ich den Rechner unbeaufsichtigt laufen lasse...

Muss jetzt erst mal raus Einkaufen, werde mich danach mal an der Vesa-Variante probieren wobei ich hoffe, dass alles gut geht :) Aber abgesehen davon, ohne Beryl kann ich nicht :)


Also vesa Treiber war ne schlechte Idee... der rechner bootet dann X nciht mehr, kann dann nur noch per Konsole die Backup XConf wiederherstellen...

Wie steht es mit diesem ACPI, NOACPI, ACPI-OFF Zeugs...was ist das? Kann das auch damit zu tun haben?

Ist vielleicht noch eine Einstellung im BIOS relavant für dieses Problem?

Gäbe es alternative Grafiktreiber, die auch problemlos Beryl und Co unterstützen? (Wobei ich eher nicht denke, dass es am Grafikkartentreiber liegt, da ich die Probleme mit dem NVidia Beta Treiber damals auch schon hatte)

Versuche mal den Energiesparmodus auszuschalten.
Ich habe das gleiche Problem (und das schon mit dem 3 System/Board) und es hängt (bei mir) mit dem Energiesparmodus "irgendwie" zusammen.
Warum ? Keine Ahnung ...

Hallo Worker,

habe unter Yast2=>System=>Power-Management bei Suspend-Berechtigungen die Häkchen bei Suspend to Disk, Suspend to RAM, Stand-By-Modus rausgenommen. Den PC habe ich über Nacht direkt testweise angelassen, und siehe da, am nächsten Morgen hatte ich noch Zugriff. Kein Freeze. Allerdings ist die Internetverbindung abgebrochen gewesen.

Ich beobachte das mal weiter, nicht dass das nur ein Zufall gewesen ist.
 
Wenn bei Dir KPowersave läuft kannste event. auch das Ding mal "disablen".
 
ich habe diesen Stromstecker nicht in der Taskbar, glaube dass er deaktiv ist. Ist ja auch eher was für notebooks oder?

Gibt es einen Befehl, womit ich den Status prüfen kann?
